Continuous Monitoring of Cerebral Tissue Pressure After Elective Posterior Fossa Surgery

1993
If free communication exists between the supra- and the infratentorial space, the intracranial pressure is equally transmitted between these two compartments [1]. In cases of impaired communication (“compartment block”), however, supratentorial ICP may not reflect infratentorial pressure [4]. Direct ICP monitoring in the posterior fossa is indicated in these cases. Thus the aim of this pilot study was to determine the value of cerebral tissue pressure (CTP) monitoring after elective posterior fossa surgery.
