Implications of BIM adoption and the impact of the new International Construction Measurement Standards will have on BIM projects in the future

The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the notion behind this dissertation research. It begins by providing background information on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its uses before the benefits and limitations of BIM implementation will then be evaluated. The International Construction Measurement Standards (ICMS) will then be assessed and their potential to affect the BIM process will be reviewed. The rationale and focus of the research will then be discussed and the aims and objectives that should be completed in order to achieve the goal of this project will be outlined. Finally, a summary of the research methodology approach used to collect the relevant data and an outline of the dissertation structure will be stated.
