The present invention relates to the technical field of laser power attenuation and discloses a mechanical laser power attenuation method and a structure thereof. The method comprises the following steps that a rotation disk is arranged at the transmission optical path of a laser beam, the rotation disk is provided with a blocking area for blocking the pass of a laser beam and a window area for allowing the laser beam to pass, the blocking area and the window area are alternately arranged around the rotation center of the rotation disk, and the power of the attenuated laser beam is P=P1*(1-S1/S), wherein P1 is the power of the laser beam before attenuation, S1 is the area of the blocking area, and S is the area of the rotation disk. The mechanical laser power attenuation method of the invention is used to carry out attenuation processing on the laser beam, due to the use of the rotation disk and the setting of the blocking area and the window area on the rotation disk, the laser beam goes through the rotation disk intermittently, the effect of laser beam power attenuation is achieved, the use of an optical lens is not needed, the structure is simple, the cost is low, the influence of a laser beam wavelength and a polarization state is zero, and the range of application is wide.
