Mobility and Transport of Elderly Persons in Aquitaine Results of the Paquid Program

The authors give the first results of the Paquid enquiry concerning 2,792 persons who are over 65 years and who live at home in Gironde, France. Of these persons, 97.3% have no physical disabilities for traveling and 82.3% of them can autonomously use a means of transport. Among the persons who can travel, 9.7% confine themselves to their homes and 10.5% to their neighborhoods. A multivaried analysis by logistic regression shown five confinement risk factors: age, sex (in favor of men), existence of a depression, an intellectual deterioration and living alone.
