Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTRA) is being used with increasing frequency for the treatment of renovascular hypertension and renal insufficiency caused by renal artery stenoses. The following article reviews the current status of PTRA regarding indications, technique, complications, and results of the procedure.
