2001
A knowledge and understanding of disease processes is essential for effective surgical practice and all surgeons in training are required to exhibit this understanding throughout the examinations leading to the MRCS/AFRCS. In particular, trainees need to have a comprehensive knowledge of systemic pathology, especially those in body systems in which they will later become specialists. This text offers the essential facts which a trainee surgeon needs in order to succeed in the Basic Training element of postgraduate surgical training.
