The Systems Integration Framework: Application within the IWATVP

§The work presented in this paper is part of the ongoing Integrated Wing Aerospace Technology Validation Programme (IWATVP). The paper is concerned with a package of work within the programme which is focused on the integration of complex systems and technologies that are being developed within other constituent work packages. In particular, the paper describes the approach that is being used to address problems relating to the delivery of through-life complex systems solutions whilst simultaneously attempting to address issues surrounding the practical application of architecture frameworks. To this end, the paper provides an overview of architectural approaches, listing some of the perceived benefits to be gained from their use, and identifies an architectural framework, the Systems Integration Framework, that is being developed as part of the IWATVP along with a method of application in developing capability routemaps.
