The present invention provides a toll collection device and a method for operating a toll collection machine for a motor vehicle. The toll collection device includes a first memory means, second memory means and a data transmission device. The first storage means is adapted to store at least toll data. The second memory means is adapted to store at least the vehicle operating data. The data transmission device is adapted to transfer the stored toll data and the stored vehicle operating data by means of an electronic, wireless data transmission to at least one disposed outside of the motor vehicle device.
