Effects of uniaxial stress on the excitons in single crystals of CuI: Comparison with thin films

Abstract We have investigated at low temperature the effects of uniaxial stress on single crystals of CuI, from different geometries. From the observed results, we deduce the deformation potentials and analyze by comparison the strain induced in thin films by the substrate.
