The teaching of science in childhood is a subject that needs to be discussed, therefore, this text presents the theme of teaching practices in an experience called the Little Scientists Project. Our goal is to reflect on the potential of science education in childhood, especially in the school environment, for the construction of argumentative and ecologically conscious. For this, we conducted an experience report with observations made throughout 2018, a period in which pedagogical practices were focused on understanding science teaching in early childhood education. Among the main results we point to the difficulty of the institution and the gap in the training of teachers to effectively address this theme. In addition, we realize the importance of science education in early childhood education due to its significant implication in children's perception. We believe that the approach to science teaching needs to start from the reality of each student, making it meaningful.
