Use of a treated wet heat, to reduce the rate of digestibility of a beverage so that the time period during which the beverage supplies energy to an individual who has consumed increases starch, wherein the starch treated with moist heat is produced by mixing a starch and water in an appropriate amount to provide a mixture with a water content within a range situated between 15 and 35% by weight, and treating the mixture with heat wet, at a temperature within a range situated between 95 and 135C.
