The Efficiency of Modern Urban Agriculture in Tianjin Based on C2R-C2GS2 Model

2013
The efficiency of modern urban agriculture essentially is the optimum distribution of resources. This paper analyzes the efficiency of modern urban agriculture in Tianjin from 2000 to 2011 by using the C2R-C2GS2 model with the input and output index selected respectively from three aspects such as economic, social and ecological functions of urban agriculture. The results show the development level of economic functions is the best, as its valid DEA (data envelopment analysis) years are the most than the other two, social and ecological functions. In the respective of technical efficiency, valid years of social function efficiency are the least, however, valid years of ecological functions efficiency are the least in terms of scale efficiency. Therefore we should emphasize on technology application, extension, and scale up urban agriculture that has ecological functions. By projection analysis, the City should mainly improve the development of urban agriculture through increasing farmers' income per capita, making rational planning on agriculture, forestry and water affairs expenditure, raising per capita public green areas.
