Statistical analysis factor screening of soybean oil and polymer modified asphalt blending using master batching technique

2021
Abstract The use of multiple additives in asphalt leads to a much more complicated analysis of the rheology. In this research a master batching technique was used where a high SBS polymer concentration was created before diluting and blending in other additives, including a soybean derived polymer and rejuvenator. The order of additions was investigated using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the impact of the dosage levels was investigated using a 2k factorial design. The model shows that SBS polymer has the largest impact on all rheological properties, while the soybean derived additives improve the low temperature performance.
