Leishmaniose viscérale : difficultés diagnostiques et apport des nouvelles techniques sérologiques. À propos d'un cas autochtone

1992
We report one case of visceral leishmaniasis in a 27-year-old french man without immunodepression or travelling history. Clinical features were recurrent fever and splenomegaly, associated with pancytopenia and hypergammaglobulinemia. Although specific Giemsa preparations of bone marrow aspiration and spleein were performed, no parasite was seen. Diagnosis was finally based on serological tests, including IF, ELISA, immunoelectrophoresis and Western-blot analysis, which appears to be a new highly specific test.
