Janice Britton-Davidian (1950–2017)

Janice Britton-Davidian, recently retired CNRS Re-search Director, passed away in August 2017 after ayear-long battle with cancer. She has left a rich scientificlegacy through her work in understanding chromosomalevolution, meiotic recombination and sex determinationof rodents, principally the ubiquitous house mouse,Musmusculusand pygmy mouse,M. minutoides, speciesthat now serve as model taxa in studies of small mam-mal cytogenetics.
