Okul Dışı Öğrenme Ortamının 5. Sınıf ‘Canlılar Dünyası’ Ünitesinde Öğrenci Başarısına Etkisi: Biyoçeşitlilik Müzesi Örneği
2020
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of a biodiversity museum trip, which is one of the out-of-school learning environments, on students' academic success in the “World of Living” unit in 5th grade science class. The research is in quasi-experimental model with pretest/posttest applied control group, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The sample of the study consists of 23 5th grade students studying in a public secondary school in Corum in the academic year 2019-2020. The research data were collected by applying the “World of Living” achievement test to the students in the research sample. The analysis of the data was done through variance analysis. Mann Whitney U test was used to compare students' prior knowledge. Whether there is a significant difference between the learning levels of the students at the end of the application was determined by using two-way analysis of variance for repeated measurements. At the end of the research, it was concluded that the out-of-school learning environment biodiversity museum excursion activity carried out within the scope of 5th grade living world unit increased the academic success of students. The research was completed with various suggestions such as conducting similar studies with larger samples, organizing trips to different out-of-school learning environments on the same subject.
