Comparative analysis of nitric oxide-traps reactors properties with magnesium oxide and bar aluminates

2006
In this paper properties of the LNT reactors were described. In the discussed reactors the bar aluminates and magnesium oxide were used as a compound for NOX storage. There is also discussed a procedure of reactor studies and the test bench. The structure of tested reactor and diffraction analysis of catalysts surface was also described, including pictures from the scanning electron microscope and the X-ray examinations of surface structure with size determination of noble metals crystallites. Article contain analysis of reactors properties in carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon oxidation and nitric oxides storage and reduction for botch models of catalysts at conditions when engine was running by turns rich and lean and when it was running under stechiometrical conditions. Tests were conducted in few different reactor temperatures. Additionally the analysis of conversion of mine, toxic exhaust gases under conditions when engine was running low had been conducted to simulate the real conditions in which LNT reactors are being used. Summary of all results and determinate parameters showed which of elaborated reactors had better catalytic properties. In this case reactor with magnesium oxide in his structure had better conversion values than the reactor with bar aluminates.
