Effect of sodium nitrite on the blood methemoglobin level in rats

: Effect of sodium nitrite on the blood methemoglobin level in the rats was evaluated. The solution of sodium nitrite in various concentrations were given to 60 Wistar rats. The statistically significant increase in methemoglobin level was found in the blood of rats receiving high doses of sodium nitrite.
