Stern flaps on 110' WPBs

Stern flaps are common on planing boats. The 41 Utility Boat (UTB) has a fixed flap, the 47 Motor Life Boat (MLB) bas a wedge and fixed flap and many recreational boats have adjustable trim tabs. These devices provide added lift aft, thereby changing trim to a more optimum value, which in turn increases, speed. However, fast displacement craft do not plane, and so flaps were not normally fitted to such ships.
