Outcomes after Lung Re-Transplantation: A Single-Center Experience

2021
Purpose Lung Re-transplantation (ReLTx) imposes an increased risk compared with a primary lung transplantatin (PLTx), and the median survival after ReLTx was reported only 2.5 years. Recently, some paper reported comparable result of ReLTx by adjustments for known transplantation risk factors. We investigated our results of ReLTx. Methods A retrospective data collection was performed for the 746 patients who received lung transplantation between Jan-2012 to Jun-2020 at our center. We compared variables between patients undergoing PLTx (Group P) and those undergoing ReLTx (Group R). Survival outcome was assessed using Kaplan-Meier curve and analyzed using log-rank test between the two groups. P-value Results ReLTx was performed in 14 cases (1.9%). There was significant difference in age (p Conclusion ReLTx showed non-inferior survival outcome compared with PLTx. In selected patients careful ReLTx is an acceptable option.
