Superconducting and Structural Properties of Amorphous Zr(Ni,Mo,W)-Alloys

1987
Zr 1-x B x Compounds form glasses with a great variety of B-elements. Most of these alloys show glass forming ability even in a large concentration range. This favours amorphous (a-) Zr alloys for systematic investigations (1,2). In the present work we report on measurements of superconducting and structural properties of the isoelectronic and isomorphous alloys Z 1-y Mo y and Zr 1-z W z . We studied transition temperatures T c and upper critical fields H C2 (T) and discuss the results in terms of a non orthogonal tight binding approach (1,3). Furthermore tunneling experiments on a series of Zr 1-x Ni x alloys were performed in order to get a more direct picture of superconductivity in these compounds.
