“Rehabilitation Engineering: Designing for Ability” – A summer outreach course for attracting talented high school students to the rehabilitation engineering field

2015
We have developed a week-long course in rehabilitation engineering for high-school students through the University of Toronto’s Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program to inspire talented students to pursue the field, and develop the technologies that will help our aging population to avoid or overcome disabilities and live fulfilling lives for as long as possible. Through lectures, activities and hospital visits, students significantly improved their understanding of how technology could be used to improve function and mobility, as well as their appreciation for the role that engineers can play in supporting rehabilitation.
