Abstract 78: Utility of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Postresuscitation Period of Cardiac Arrest

2014
Background: Utility of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in postresucitation period of cardiac arrest is uncertain. Purpose: The aim of our study was to verify utility of CMR in the post resuscitation period of cardiac arrest. Method: We studied twenty patients who successfully resuscitated after cardiac arrest. All the patients were performed coronary angiography and denied acute coronary syndrome. Among twenty patients, two patients were not able to perform CMR due to claustrophobia. CMR was performed with 1.5T MRI machine (Philips Achieva®) based on standardized CMR protocol of society of cardiovascular magnetic resonance. Result: CMR revealed three patients of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, three patients of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, two patients of pericarditis, one patient of cardiac amyloidosis, one patient of stress cardiomyopathy, five patients of unknown myocardial infarction, one patient of coronary fistula and two patients with normal study. Based on CMR results, eleven patients were implanted defibrillator. Conclusion: Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging suggested to be useful in the patients in the postresuscitation period of cardiac arrest.
