Etnocentryzm konsumencki w ujęciu lokalnym jako czynnik rozwoju rynku żywności ekologicznej w Polsce

2016
This study focused on the ethnocentric attitudes’ impact in terms of ecological food’s local shopping. The ecological food market in Poland is growing very dynamically. The pace of this growth is assessed at 10-20% per annum, but in comparison to other EU countries, it is still in the initial phase of development. In many studies concerning ecological food market in Poland, the price and availability of products with ecological certificate are indicated as barriers to its development. However, there are trends observed indicating that these barriers can be overcame. Research showed that there is a relationship between the frequency of purchase of ecological food and local ethnocentric attitude. Consumers buying ecological food regularly manifested stronger ethnocentric attitudes than people buying this type of food occasionally, or not buying it at all. Considering intensifying ethnocentric attitudes in Polish society, especially in regard to food, it can be assumed that they will have a positive influence on the ecological food interest.
