Obezitatea în sarcină şi consilierea antenatală dintr-o perspectivă multidisciplinară

2021
The upward trend in the spread of obesity in the last century has brought an increase in the incidence of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and, inevitably, an increase in mortality globally. At the same time, obesity has become a feared risk factor among pregnant women, given its association with diseases that predispose to high-risk obstetric pregnancies: gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, venous thromboembolism, renal dysfunction, which have as a trigger the metabolic changes induced by the increase of the body mass index. Micronutrients support the maternal and fetal well-being, so it is essential to maintain a balanced diet, but also the supplementation with vitamins whose need increases in pregnancy, especially in overweight women, who often have significant nutritional deficiencies. In this regard, the collaboration between the representatives of primary and secondary health care must be close, in order to provide adequate antenatal counseling to overweight or obese women, and not to delay in establishing a diagnosis that could endanger both the patient’s life and the pregnancy.
