The importance of corporate social responsibility activities in regional development: Torku example

It is thought that the companies holding the power of capital play an effective role in eliminating regional development differences. Determining the direction and size of the impact of firms on the development of the regions can guide the policies to be applied to reduce the development of disparities among the regions. The aim of this study is to put forth the relationship between regional development and corporate social responsibility activities. In this context, the corporate social responsibility activities of Konya Beet Growers Cooperative, known as Torku and operating in TR5 Western Anatolia Region, and the effects of these activities on the development of the region were examined. In the study, information was obtained about the production activities of the cooperative by using the interview method, which is one of the qualitative data collection methods. Through a large number of integrated production facilities, by wastes are sent backing to production again, on the one hand preventing possible damage to the environment, and and on the other hand, transforming them into products with higher added value. In production processes, a significant contribution is made to localization, development of human and social capital, revealing the potential of the region and increasing the production volume of the region.
