Non-AFP cases of the surveillance system in polio-free phase

Objective To improve the reliability and quality of the sensitivity of the non-polio AFP cases surveillance system.Method Descriptive epidemiological methods were applied to analyze the non-AFP cases in the surveillance system of in Hangzhou from 2001 to 2008.Result The results showed the basic features of the non-AFP cases.The diagnostic specificity of AFP cases was 63.73%,mainly in some children from school.The highest prevalence occured in October.89.32% of the total cases had vaccination history of three doses.The non-AFP cases mainly were those getting right when investigated and the main symptoms were arthritis,synovial inflammation and muscle pain.Conclusion Through investigations,the non-AFP cases are withdrawn from the surveillance system.It improves the reliability of surveillance system.
