Cyclic deformation behavior of extruded AM30 magnesium alloy

2013
In order to understand the cyclic stress response and stress-strain behaviors of extruded AM30 magnesium alloy under low-cycle fatigue loading condition, the strain-controlled fatigue experiments at room temperature were performed for the extruded AM30 magnesium alloy with as-extruded,solid solution and solid solution plus aging states. The results reveal that the extruded AM30 magnesium alloy with different treated states exhibits such cyclic stress response behavior as cyclic strain hardening and cyclic stability during the fatigue deformation period.A linear relationship between the cyclic stress amplitude and plastic strain amplitude is noted for the extruded AM30 magnesium alloy with different treated states. In addition, both solid solution and solid solution plus aging treatments can enhance the cyclic strength coefficient and cyclic strain hardening exponent of the extruded AM30 magnesium alloy.During the fatigue deformation at higher total strain amplitudes, the extruded AM30 magnesium alloy with different treated states shows the typical deformation behavior of tension-compression asymmetry.
