Amnionitis and premature delivery with intact amniotic membranes involving Staphylococcus aureus : a case report

1995
Subclinical infection is suspected to be an important etiologic factor in the initiation of preterm labor in women with intact menbranes. We present a case of acute clinical chorioamnionitis followed by preterm labor and fetal distress in a woman with intact membranes. The bacteriologic data on the mother and neonate clearly identified coagulase-positive Staphylococcus aureus as the etiologic factor. (J Reprod Med 1995 ;40 :485-486)
