問題解決導向學習在大學通識課程之操作檢視-以《家庭與人際關係:經典劇本導讀》為例

2010
The purpose of general education is to help students to respect multi-cultures, and to cultivate the attitude of tolerance and acceptance. The course, ”Family and Human Relations: Guided Reading of Classic Plays,” is designed for these purposes by using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) teaching method. Through examining two selected plays, students explore the relationships and problems between the main characters. After group discussion and cooperation, students seek for possible solutions, or even extend the circumstances into their real world. The class provides students an opportunity to develop their problem solving abilities, and hope if they meet the similar situations in the future, they can adjust the experiences to their lives. This study is based on the course provided by the Center for General Education of National Sun Yat-sen University in the second semester of 2008 academic year. The research takes the students in this course as samples. The purposes of this study include: 1. to construct the strategy of PBL course design when applying play scripts as teaching material; 2. to examine students’ learning motivations in different course activities. Based on the result, the research concludes that: 1. the students in Taiwan are suitable for proper sequential guidance into PBL course; 2. the best way to utilize PBL teaching method and increase students' learning motivations is ”collecting and reading extracurricular materials”; 3. ”problem discussion,” ”role playing,” ”characters' defense,” and ”extracurricular reading” are the most efficient activities to achieve this curriculum goals; 4. whether the students have improved their ”problem-solving abilities” is difficult to judge, however it is sure that this course has prepared them to face complex and unexpected social situations in the future.
