MHD baseline plant designs

MHD power technology is in a transitional state. Testing of Components at the 25 to 50 MW /SUB t/ scale is continuing but a complete MHD combined cycle plant capable of long term operation must be demonstrated before commercialization of the technology can proceed. The present study identifies the recommended approaches presented by investigators to date and provides realistic assessments and a comparison base for MHD systems which must meet utility standards for construction and performance and economic viability.
