Filler-containing thermoplastic resin

PURPOSE: To provide a filter-containing thermoplastic resin which can give thermoplastic modings having good elongation at break, tensile strength and toughness by compounding a thermoplastic polyamide with a modified polyphenylene ether, a filler, a zinc sulfide pigment and optionally an impact- modifying rubber and a flame retardant. CONSTITUTION: This resin is compounded, as main components, with 10-84 wt.% thermoplastic polyamide, 10-83 wt.% modified polyphenylene ether, 5-40 wt.% fibrous or particulate filler or mixture thereof, 1-20 wt.% zinc sulfide pigment and optionally 0-30 wt.% impact-modifying rubber and 0-25 wt.% flame retardant. The polyamide is preferably polyhexamethylene adipamide, polyhexamethylene sebacamide or polycaprolactam. The modifier for the polyphenylene ether is exemplified by maleic acid, itaconic acid, methylmaleic acid and anhydrides and imides thereof. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
