LONGITUDINALELECTRONBUNCH DIAGNOSTICSUSING COHERENT TRANSITIONRADIATION
2005
Thelongitudinal charge distribution ofelectron bunches intheFermilab/Nicadd AOphotoinjector wasdetermined using thecoherent transition radiation produced byelectrons passing through athin metallic foil. Theautocorrelation ofthetransition radiation signal wasmeasured with aMichelson-type interferometer. Theresponse function oftheinterferometer wasdetermined frommeasured and simulated powerspectra forlowelectron bunch charge and maximumlongitudinal compression. A Kramers-Kronig technique wasusedtodetermine longitudinal charge distribution. Measurements wereperformed forelectron bunch lengths intherange from0.3to2ps(rms).
