Spinal vs General Anesthesia in patients undergoing urogenital surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background:  This study aimed to evaluate the pain in 24 hours after surgery, quality of life, and outcome of surgery in patients undergoing urogenital surgery using Spinal and General Anesthesia. Methods: Women referring to Vali-e-Asr Hospital candidate for urogenital surgery were studied.  Qualified subjects were divided into two groups for anesthesia. The pain starts time for recovery in hours, score, pain based on VAS criteria, at 2, 6, 12, and 24 hours after the operation, satisfaction at the time of ambulation (based on prepared forms) in the two groups were evaluated. The number of postoperative days after discharge was recorded in two groups. The outcome of the surgery and function was based on the ICIQ Questionnaires by the physician. Data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results:  no significant relationship with the parity, previous non cesarean abdominal surgery, and urinary complications. Besides, there was a significant relationship between pain score in the two groups. Conclusion: Considering the different influence of treatment methods for this disease, further research is needed to clarify, the results of anatomical, and anatomical outcomes after treatment for pelvic floor disorders in women.
