It is essential this research since encourage reading if it influences in formal lexicon development of children. In Chapter I, it was posed the problem regarding the world to macro level, of Ecuador to meso level, and on the Educational Institution to micro level. The general objective is a fundamental piece of the inquiry which is to reach the end of the investigation, according to the proposed topic has been aimed the objectives. The justification was important because reading as tool to schooling is vital in children who are direct beneficiaries. Chapter II, it reflects the review of background, related topics, where the strategies, methods, and conceptions developed and investigated by other authors were a guide. The scientific substantiations deployed several concepts of expert philosophers in education; the two variables were clarified through the theoretical foundation with topics and subtopics; operational table is distributed by categories according to the concept of the theoretical framework, and indicators based the curriculum. Chapter III, implementation methodologies in observation sheets to children of first grade are used, it was represented by graphs with their analysis and interpretations. Regarding the obtained results is evidenced that the reading is significant for the formal lexicon development, but children lack interest in reading, it should reinforce knowledge, and motivate them to search in reading an open window to knowledge
