Untersuchung einer Ni63,5Al36,5-Legierung im Heiztischmikroskop
1996
Binary and ternary Ni-Al shape memory alloys have great potential for use in many different areas. The martensitic transformation temperature M s of these alloys can be varied by suitably choosing the amounts of the alloying elements between 60 and 70 at.% Ni present in the temperature range -150 °C to 750 °C. Until now however, the brittleness of these alloys at room temperature has prevented their commercial exploitation. Using the hot stage microscope the relationships between crack formation and the martensitic transformation process, which are a result of the brittleness observed, were investigated. The microstructure of the martensite was analysed using prepared microsections of martensitic specimens.
