Some electrochemical features of glassy carbon-supported thin liquid films of lecithin

2001
Abstract The work represents results from examination of the interactions between solid-supported thin liquid films of lecithin and electroactive species in the electrolyte solution which are in contact with the lipid phase. The experimental data suggest quite different behaviors for the two types of species considered in the study. While the hydrophobic iodine is able to penetrate the film, the ascorbate performs its redox reaction on the lipid | electrolyte interface boundary. In this regard, a brief discussion about the opportunities for realization of sensors with electrochemical signal transduction is given.
