O Ensaio sobre a arquitetura, de Marc-Antoine Laugier: um tratado da simplicidade.

The paper presents an approach to Abbot Marc-Antoine Laugier thoughts. The Abbot was a French thinker of the eighteenth century who wrote what can be considered the most important treaty or the enlightenment period. The approach, although general, aim to incite the reader to seek work on this important author. Therefore, this article presents a translation of the “Foreword” of the Essai sur l’Architecture, the most important book written by the Abbot, as well as a transcription of the original text, taken from the book published in Paris in 1753. The article also presents a small bibliography on the subject identifying other translations in order to enable the reader compared readings.
