The epidemic of communicable diseases in a troop, 2005-2009.

Objective To investigate the epidemic characteristics of communicable diseases and to provide scientific basis for disease prevention and control.Methods The data of communicable diseases reported by the Center of Disease Prevention and Control of the troop were analyzed with software Excel.Results A total of 3 917 cases of infectious diseases,including 3 413(87.13%) category 2 communicable diseases,273(6.97%) category 3 communicable diseases,200 cases of non-notifiable infectious diseases and 31 cases of food poisoning were reported during the five years.No cases of category 1 communicable diseases were reported.The incidence of communicable diseases showed obvious seasonal variation,reached peak in August,and decreased at the beginning and the end of the year.There were 1 191 cases(30.41%) occurred during July and September.The blood-borne or sexually transmitted diseases accounted for 35.69% of the communicable diseases.There were 1 432 cases(36.56%) suffered from viral hepatitis.Conclusion The epidemic of communicable diseases is unoptimistic in the troop.Surveillance of viral hepatitis,tuberculosis and bacillary dysentery should be strengthened.Comprehensive measures including vaccination and disinfection should be adopted.
