Nature of embrittlement ofα titanium alloys in the process of aging

1977
1. C-Shaped curves were plotted for decomposition of the α solid solution in α titanium alloy Ti−6A1−6Zr, reflecting the kinetics of the formation of zones rich in zirconium and aluminum. 2. Rapid cooling (quenching) from the β, α+β, or upper limit of the α region sharply reduces the possibility of concentration heterogeneities being formed in the α solid solution and makes it possible to obtain the optimal combination of properties of α titanium alloys.
