ANALYTICAL TREATMENT OF ELECTRON WAVE PROPAGATION IN TWO-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES

An alternative mode-matching method based on standing-wave solutions of the Schrodinger equation is applied to certain two-dimensional potential wells considered recently as models for quantum electron devices. Simple analytical approximations are worked out for the transmission coefficients and for calculating the energies of bound states in such systems.
