Long-Term Therapy with Muzolimine in Patients with Mild to Moderate Essential Hypertension

Diuretic therapy represents a first step in the treatment of hypertensive vascular disease. Its effectiveness is related to sodium and water loss and hence to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance (1). The Muzolimine is a loop of Henle diuretic able of an intense and prolonged natriuretic effect through a peculiar mechanism of action since it acts from the interstitial peritubular side.
