Development of a site specific empirical equation to estimate TIBL heights at the Fermi-2 Power Plant site

1985
A special meteorological monitoring study was performed at the Fermi-2 Nuclear Power Plant site in the spring and summer months of 1983 and 1984 to: characterize the influence of Lake Erie on atmospheric transport, identify an equation to adequately parameterize the thermal internal boundary layer (TIBL) height and assess the need for long-term supplemental meteorological monitoring. This paper focuses on the development of an empirical equation to specify TIBL heights at the Fermi-2 site. The empirical equation's performance in predicting observed TIBL heights is compared against three previously derived equations developed by G.S. Raynor, A. Venkatram and B. Weisman.
