Comparação da Prevalência do Mormo entre as Zonas da Mata, Agreste e Sertão de Pernambuco, de 2005 à 2011

2013
Glanders affects equines, other mammals and occasionally man. This study describes the results of diagnostic tests for equine traffic from 2005 to 2011. The tests were conducted in the Zona da Mata, Agreste and Sertao of Pernambuco. All animals positive in the complement fixation test (FC) without clinical symptoms were confirmed by the evidence of mallein. It was used database of the Federal Agriculture in the State of Pernambuco (SFA-PE), fed through monthly reports from two laboratories accredited to perform the diagnosis of glanders. Descriptive analysis and calculated prevalence were accomplished on the time series in 2005 to 2011 cases of glanders. Prevalence was stratified by region of Pernambuco. The chi-square test was done to test the association between the prevalence of glanders (direct variable) and diagnosis of AIE in the regions of the state (independent variables). There were 68 positive animals, with an average of 9.71 cases per year. It is concluded that: 1. There is a higher prevalence of glanders in the Zona da Mata (p <0.05); 2. There is an association between the occurrence of glanders and AIE (p <0.05); 3. The number of tests for diagnosis of glanders and AIE presents seasonality caused by the distribution of equestrian events.
