Research on the Influence of Vertical Ironing to Bonding Pressure within Multi-billet Extrusion for Inner Ribbed Tube☆

Abstract In the previous work multi billets extrusion has been proved to be feasible to produce inner ribbed tubes, and horizontal ironing in welding chamber can increase bonding pressure more effectively than the basic type. However, the chamber with ironing process features complex spatial shape and the former study only initially demonstrated the ironing influence to bonding pressure in horizontal direction. To get a more comprehensive understanding about ironing influence to pressure, the vertical ironing process was studied in this paper. The influence of the vertical ironing parameters, such as ironing ratio and length, to bonding pressure was obtained by simulation and experiment.
