On Difference of Opinions of Phycologists and Bacteriologists Concerning the Nomenclature of Cyanophyta

Summary The paper deals with the results of a critical analysis of the proposal of some bacteriologists to place the Cyanophyta (named Cyanobacteria by the authors of the proposal) nomenclature under the rules of the “International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria” (1975).The problem concerning the place of Cyanophyta in the system of the living world is discussed.
