Effect of Newer Insecticides Emamectin Benzoate 5% WG Against Pod Fly, Melanagromyza obtusa (Malloch) on Pigeon Pea

The tur pod fly, Melanagromyza obtusa was found to be predominant during the year of experimentation and it causes significant economic losses in the grain yield of pigeon pea. The emamectin benzoate 5 WG @ 9.4 g a.i. per ha was found to be the most effective treatment against pod fly, Melanagromyza obtusa, The efficacy of emamectin benzoate 5% WG @ 9.4 g a. i. per ha was reflected in lowest per cent pod damage (8.72%) to be found. The efficacy of emamectin benzoate 5% WG @ 9.4 g a. i. per ha was reflected in grain yield (876 kg/ha) of red gram which was highest among all treatments. However, its lower doses viz., 6.9 and 8.1 g a. i. per ha were next effective treatments as grain yield concerned along with ethion 50EC @ 500 g a.i. per ha. All the treatments were significantly superior over untreated control.
