Influence of light doping with gadolinium on the critical specific heat of EuO

A study of polytherms of the specific heat of Eu/sub 0.99/Gd/sub 0.01/O in the region of its second-order magnetic phase transition revealed behavior similar to that exhibited by stoichiometric EuO. This was interpreted as lack of influence of disorder in the solid-solution sample on the magnetization and the long-range order of divalent europium ions in stoichiometric Eu.
