Predicting the Distribution of Residual Oil in Reservoirs with High-precision 3D Seismic Data

Based on the technique of computing amplitude spectral gradient attribute, seismic data can be used to predict and delineate the distribution of residual oil. In this paper, we present thoughts and workflow to predict the residual oil distribution in a reservoir with high-precision 3-D seismic data. A case study demonstrates that the distribution of residual oil predicted by seismic data matches better than it predicted by reservoir simulation. It also illustrates that predicting the distribution of residual oil using seismic data is feasible in reality.
