Multiple-scattering theory of excess electrons in simple dielectric fluids

1993
The density expansion of the conduction-band energy minimum V/sub 0/(n) of excess electrons in simple fluids is investigated inthe framework of multiple-scattering theory. It is shown that V/sub 0/ is not an analytic function of the density n. However, excluded volume effects are considered in a quadratic expansion approximation. In the particular case of fluid argon, it is shown that such an expansion of V/sub 0/ including the screening of the polarization interaction successfully accounts for the overall V/sub 0/(n) behavior up to the triple-point density.
